One-day Legislative Boot Camp presented by NCRA’s outside Legislative Counsel Dave Wenhold and NCRA Senior Government Relations Specialist Adam Finkel
8:15 – 9:45 AM “Change: Where have we been? Where are we going?” (.15 CEUs)
This seminar discusses the technological changes that surround us each and every day. Overall trends are discussed as to where the court reporting industry has been and where it is going using examples from various industries and fields. You will leave this seminar prepared to conquer the future and advance the court reporting profession.
10:00 – 11:30 AM “Let Me Hear Your Body Talk” (.15 CEUs)
Learn what everybody is saying to you and how to utilize those subtle signals to judge any situation. Whether it is in the elevator, the office, a courtroom, or a boardroom, the unconscious signals that a person’s body sends out will allow you to better read them. This session will show you how to make an impact with others through nonverbal communication. Studies show that 93% of communication effectiveness is based upon nonverbal cues.

This is the nuts and bolts of how legislation is made. You will learn how bills become laws, how to interact effectively with staff, and how to advocate for your ideas!
2:00– 3:00 PM “Utilizing Grassroots Efforts for Maximum Success” (.1 CEUs)
This session will give you the tools for your advocacy toolbox and help you construct a full-scale grassroots campaign that will knock your legislators over! In this day and age, you must incorporate grassroots lobbying into your overall strategy to have the maximum impact.
3:15– 4:15 PM “Wisconsin Political Update” (.1 CEUs)
An update on the current “state of the state,” key players, make-up of the legislature, opportunities for legislation, and much more.
4:30-5:30 PM “Current Issues in the Court Reporting and Captioning Professions and Town Hall Meeting” (.1 CEU)
Every reporter knows the issues. Court reporting professionals face these issues each day, but how do you articulate your professional needs to your legislators and their staff? Understanding what is going on and how other states are dealing with those issues makes us all stronger.

Do you want to take charge of your unhealthy eating habits but due to a busy lifestyle it seems impossible to prepare healthy meals? Do you have good intentions to begin an exercise program but some other task always gets in the way? If you answered yes to either question, Bianca White has the answers for you. We will learn from her journey how to change our habits and find better health and a better life.

CANCELLATION POLICY: There is a cancellation fee of $25. The remaining portion of your registration will be deferred for a period of one year for use at a WCRA convention. Refunds will not be given.
