Is a career in court reporting right for you?

Here are some useful tips to help you answer that question:

Careers in the Justice System

Applications for the WCRA Student Scholarship program are due in March.  The Student Committee picks the recipients and they are announced at the spring convention.

Scholarship requirements are as follows:

-An essay must be submitted including your name, address, school attending, speed level attained (at least one passed test), years in program, how you heard about careers in court reporting/captioning/CART, what your employment goals are, and any personal or professional background you would like WCRA to consider.
-Advanced students of an NCRA-accredited institution and must have attained the minimum speed level of 200 WPM.
-Email president.wcra@gmail.com for further information regarding application.

WCRA Student Mentoring Program

WCRA has a mentoring program where working reporters/captioners are available to answer your questions, offer advice, and give words of encouragement when needed.

To be connected with a mentor, contact WCRA Student Committee at wicrastudents@gmail.com

ATTENTION STUDENTS:

Volunteering for the Veteran's History Project can earn you free WCRA membership & more!

Don't forget, students, that you can earn a free WCRA membership or free convention registration by transcribing veterans' tapes.  Transcribe 50 pages for a free membership or 75 pages for a free convention registration.  This not only helps preserve the history of our veterans, but also helps you!

Please visit NCRA's Veterans History Project for more information.

If you have any comments, concerns, or questions about our association, or you would like additional information about court reporting as a profession, please contact us at president.wcra@gmail.com.
